What We Do

The Long African Day encompasses all the realities of daily life in Africa. The many crises we find everywhere, and also the incredible revivals which are taking place.

The Long African Day Coalition is how we respond to the needs and the revival. We do this through five key partner organizations of Africa Region, Assemblies of God World Missions.

Each one helps respond to a specific set of needs.

Shelter

Need: Only about one third of Assemblies of God churches in Africa have adequate and safe shelter through which to minister to their communities.

Our response: Africa Tabernacle Evangelism helps build permanent tabernacle structures for these churches, providing a safe and visible place of worship for congregations.

Water

Need: Millions in Africa must struggle and suffer each day in the constant search for sources of clean, disease-free water.

Our response: Africa Oasis Project initiates clean water projects (such as water well drilling) to help communities access the water deep in the earth. As a result, Africans not only are blessed with clean water, but they also have a chance to receive the Living Water, Jesus Christ.

Leadership

Need: With such great revival taking place, the number of churches and new believers being added to the Fellowship has vastly outstripped our capacity to train enough Pentecostal leaders to lead the churches. As a result many new believers aren’t properly discipled, incorrect doctrines come into the church, and the harvest is at risk. It may not survive to the next generation.

Our response: Through Africa’s Hope we help facilitate the needs of Bible schools and their many extension centers on the continent to train leaders, at all academic levels, to proclaim Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Children

Need: The children of Africa are forgotten, at risk, victimized, and hopeless without loving arms to care for them. Many die from malnutrition, disease, violence, and some are even forced to fight for survival.

Our response: Africa’s Children reaches out to the children through compassion ministry all over the continent. We help rescue child slaves. We feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and provide education to as many children as we can. The children of the African continent learn that Jesus loves them and cares for them.

HIV/AIDS

Need: HIV/AIDS is ravaging Africa. Millions have died. Millions are infected. Tens of millions are at risk. The social stigma and pain caused by this killer pandemic threatens to wipe out an entire generation.

Our response: Cry Africa is a network of churches, individuals and partner organizations which fight the stigma, hopelessness, and spread of HIV/AIDS through compassion, evangelism, home-based medical care, and education.

Africa is in need and revival all at once. We are responding to the multitude of needs and helping sustain the revivals through The Long African Day Coalition. Please read the open letter from Mike McClaflin, our Africa Regional Director, to learn more.

We also encourage you to join The Long African Day Coalition to become a part of what we are doing to reach Africa. You can also request a free copy of The Long Africa Day DVD, or donate securely with a credit card.

Africa needs your help! Thank you for blessing Africa.
